Training has made it into my dreams. This is how I know that it's become the focal point of my life. Every single night, for the last couple weeks, I have dreamt about biking or training in some way.
It makes perfect sense if you think about it. I get up in the morning, and my riding plans enter into my morning routine at some point. Sometimes, I have to remember to charge my lights for the evening ride. Other times, I load the bike gear into the car and put the bike on the roof so I can ride right after work.
At work, biking creeps into my mind, off and on through the day. I check the weather every few hours so I know what I will have to deal with later, tomorrow, the next day...
As I drive home, I talk to George about riding plans. If I'm not headed directly for the riding start point, then I'm on my way home to get suited up and begin a ride very soon.
Tonight, I stopped over to Action Wheels to have Adam and Ronnie set up the shocks on my Era. I never did have them properly adjusted for me, so I can't wait to try them now. After hanging out at my "home away from home", I went back to my real home and banged out my sublactate threshold intervals. It was raining, so I had to use the trainer.
Man, that first 15 minutes was pure suffering. I was only in Zone 2, and I only had to keep the cadence between 70-80 rpms, but that warmup was pure drudgery. My first 20 minute interval began, and I asked myself, "How am I going to get through the winter doing these?" They were hard! I longed for the outdoors. It felt so much easier to do the same intervals outside. I don't know if it's because my mind has more things to focus on (puddles, potholes, the freezing cold...) or is it simply because you never stop pedaling on a trainer? Outside, you get to coast. Even when you're doing intervals, you still coast up to intersections.
So, my day consists of working, training, putting away bike stuff, showering, and eating. Then I blog or relax. I somehow manage to squeeze in laundry, grocery shopping, and cleaning the house. Don't even ask me about my Christmas shopping! Ug, I have so much to do...
I've picked my new blog name. The URL has been purchased. More info coming soon!
